Thoughts About Christmas...

Hey friends. Matt has been teaching a series on Sunday mornings called Incarnate about the man-ness and God-ness of Jesus. It has been awesome, but it has created a lot of questions in my head. I'd love to hear your thoughts....

• Was Jesus in communion/communication with His Father while he was in Mary's womb? We can't remember being in the womb, but God created the womb that Jesus grew in...so Jesus obviously remembers those months...what must that have been like?
• As a baby, Jesus as a man did not have language capability, but in His mind and heart, was He speaking with the Father?
• What was that moment like when Jesus was birthed into our cold & sinful world. Was His mind already on the cross?
• Would I have responded like Mary if I had been chosen to be the mother of Jesus (probably not). What can I learn from her this year?
• Did the angels sing Glory in the highest & peace on earth....if so, what did that sound like?
• What must the shepherds have been feeling...being chosen to be the very first in humanity to hear about the arrival of our Immanuel?
• I love that Jesus' birth was so humble b/c we can identify with Him. If he came as a king or with lots of pomp and royalty, we could not identify with him. It's truly amazing how beautiful a manger has become.
• Did Mary struggle with insecurities in her parenting of the Great I AM??
• Did Mary know that her Son would give His life to forgive her sins?

So many questions....lots to think about. Love you all :)

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?
Hot Chocolate...who drinks hot scrambled eggs in liquid form?

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
Santa always wraps the gifts.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
we like the white ones. and we're too lazy to hang lights outside :)

4. Do you hang mistletoe?
any excuse to kiss my cute husband--I'm there!!

5. When do you put your decorations up?
As soon as we get back from visiting family for Thanksgiving

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?
My Dad's stuffing

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child:
staying up all night with my sissy writing our very own christmas carols to wake up mom & dad in the morning

8. Do you open a gift on Christas Eve?
no--my parents didn't fall for that one :)

9. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree?
white lights & then ornaments that my mom bought me each year. it's very nostalgic to hang all the ornaments--they all have a story.

10. Snow! Love it or Dread it?
miss it some days--it was so fun being a kid in the snow..so many memories!! do you think Ava will have memories like mine?? ha ha!

11. Can you ice skate?
i choose not to

12. Do you remember your favorite gift?
i don't remember most of the gifts I've gotten but I remember a lot that I've given--funny how that works :)

13. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you?
Being with my family

14. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?
my Mom's toffee--we wait all year for it & then eat ourselves silly & gain 10 pounds

15. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
too many to count....I love my Dad reading the Christmas story out of Luke first thing on Christmas morning...I love opening the stockings....looking at lights in different neighborhoods....the Christmas Eve service at my home church--especially when it's over & everyone seems so peaceful & friendly--everyone seems to linger a little longer than usual....waking up next to Matt :)

16. Which do you prefer giving or Receiving?
I LOVE giving presents--it's my favorite thing to do--ever!!

17. What is your favorite Christmas Song?
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

18. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum??
I like them--especially making them really pointy & then poking my sister :)

19. What tops your Christmas tree?
An angel my Mom bought me when I got married

I'm sick, Ava's sick, even the cat is sick. Yuck.
